We had a great weekend in the Washington DC area attending the wedding celebration of my cousin S and my new cousin-in-law D. The party was at a really nice place in Vienna Virginia called Meadowlark Botanical Garden. Food=Great! Cosmos=4! Dancing a la Elaine Benis (that would be me). A great time was had by all.
The next day, after brunch, we (we= Me, G, Cousin D, Dad, R+R, Cousin D and Cousin-in-law J) went to the National Air and Space Museum at Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center near Washington Dulles International Airport. It was pretty cool. Now.....I am not one to spend hours in a museum. I get bored pretty quickly. I was able to contain "the bored" for about 90 minutes. Really a cool place to see. The Enola Gay is there as well as one of the Space Shuttles, and the Concorde (among other planes.....G would know the names of them all).
My cousin D and I had discussed going to "the cupcake place" so later we went to Red Velvet for cupcakes. They were great! I had the vanilla bean cupcake....I quite enjoyed it. Next (we minus Cousin D and Cousin-in-law J) scouted out four restaurants that Aunt N suggested in the Penn Quarter. Jaleo won out.
Jaleo was AWESOME! Spanish Tapas.....OMG....so good! There were 5 of us and we each got three tapas that we all shared. We tried 15 different dishes. There were some definite raves!
As G and I got back to the hotel, I looked over at him and said "I'm kinda sad. I would like to stay for a couple of more days." But alas, life (and work) calls.
I would upload pics of our adventures but I never bring my camera anywhere because I hate it! It is too slow and it makes a terribly loud noise (because I dropped it in the sand last summer).

It so fun seeing you, and G, R+R, and K; the party was a blast! Even if R guilted me into wearing my heals. All. Night. :-)
I'm glad that you enjoyed Red Velvet and Jaleo. Those are two of my favorite places to eat in the city. You and G need to come back and do a food tour of DC!!! And I promise no museums... ;-)
