Gardening is saving my mind.
We have been gardening the last few weeks, I am just finding time to talk about it. Our first Rehoboth Iris came in! It was very exciting! We planted the bulbs about a year and a half ago. Last spring/summer, the leaves grew but I had no buds. I guess they needed time to acclimate. This year, they are blooming like crazy! The ones that have bloomed so far are purple however I do see maroon about to bloom.
The Johnny Jump-ups have replanted themselves along the sidewalk. I left them there, they look pretty good. So much for Johnny's being an annual.
Our Creeping Phlox looks great....our Hostas are coming in like Gang busters.....all great things.
Last weekend, we went to a plant swap. A very cool concept. People brought all kinds of gardening things to swap. Seeds, pots, clippings, bulbs, dirt, etc... We came home with a huge Hosta, Violas, seeds, vases, Ribbon grass, Iris bulbs, and Canna bulbs. G also got a phone number of a woman who is getting rid of Hosta and Forsythia. Hello! We will be there to pick it up!
This year, G and I are redoing our Sunflower gardens into Wildflower gardens. We started them off with the Day Lillies that my cousin D sent to us. We are crossing our fingers that the Day Lillies will take! G also built more raised beds to put in the fenced in garden. We have already planted lettuce and onion.
All this gardening helps relax my mind from the constant nonsense at work. I am feeling relaxed and happy.
I am going to attempt to put the spring garden pics in a slide show to post on the blog. Stay tuned for that.....
